INT. BOXING GYM - NIGHT
Macbeth opens the door of the gym. The darkness clouds her face until suddenly she steps into what seems like a spot light. Her eyes dart around searching for a foe. Nothing. She walks forward going deeper into the spotted light and darkness.
MACBETH I’m trapped in this sweaty place with no one to fight. Where is this girl who was born underground? I will fight anyone but her.
Suddenly Young Siward enters from the shadows.
SIWARD Who are you?
MACBETH You won’t want to fight me after you know.
SIWARD Oh really? I’ll fight you no matter what.
MACBETH I'm Macbeth.
Siward looks as Macbeth as if he is the most putrid and disgusting thing he has ever seen.
SIWARD The devil couldn’t have said a name I hate more.
MACBETH The devil couldn't have said a name as frightening. I’d stay on my toes if I were you. My gloves could put you to sleep.
SIWARD I doubt that’s gonna happen. I’ve been training my whole life for this momen––
Macbeth throws a hard cross which knocks Siward to the ground gasping for air. Finally he stops. Now we have seen the sheer power Macbeth posses. Nobody will be able to defeat her. Unless, they were born underground. But that’s impossible. Finally, a woman steps out of the shadows. She blends in with the darkness because she is clothed in all black. Her dark locks fall down upon her shoulders and her gloves are bulky and shiny. A possibly worthy opponent for Macbeth.
MACBETH Come from the shadows fighter. As long as my enemies lives, I will never stop fighting. You know who I am. And I know you are. So why have you found me?
MACDUFF You knocked out my best friend. She never woke up your fight. I’m here to fight in her honor and take her place.
MACBETH Ha! You’re wasting your time trying to fight me. I can’t be knocked out by someone like you. I can only be knocked out by the girl that was born underground. My charm protects me.
MACDUFF You can get rid of that brittle charm of yours. My mother gave birth to me on a subway train.
MACBETH No! You must be lying.
MACDUFF If you don’t believe me, put those gloves up and see what happens. Or you can tell everyone what a coward you are.
MACBETH No! I will never stop fighting, no matter if you are the woman from underground. So let’s fight, tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, until one of our bodies ends up on this mat.
MACDUFF Sounds good to me.
Macduff quickly jabs Macbeth rocking her pretty good. She takes a few steps, tumbling backwards. This isn’t going to be easy. Then Macbeth hits Macduff a few times but this barely fazes Macduff. She waits for the precise moment to duck under one of Macbeth’s blows and then slips under one of them and rams her glove against Macbeth’s chin. Macbeth goes down. Hard. It is easy to tell that he is surely not coming up again. Macduff takes the gloves off of Macbeth and looks up at the ceiling exhausted. Macbeth lays in darkness motionless while Macduff basks in the white light.
